There are three methods you can use when drying oranges: oven drying, air drying, or a food dehydrator. Each method has pros and cons.
We prefer the oven-drying method for the ease and consistency. However, it takes several hours to dry the orange slices fully. The air dry method is easiest but can give inconsistent results.
Cut very thin slices
Pat the slices with a paper towel
Flip the oranges every hour
Use a baking rack to lift the slices off the cookie sheet
Use the lowest temperature setting
Try making a dried orange slice garland, Christmas ornaments, or gift tag accents with your dried orange slices. Dried oranges make great decor from fall to Christmas.
