How to Etch Glass

Glass etching is a beautiful technique that leaves a permanent, dishwasher-safe and microwave-safe design on glass.

Glass Etching Supplies

Etching cream

Stencil (or stencil vinyl and Cricut)

Small paintbrush

Painter's tape

Safety gloves and safety glasses

After cleaning the glass, apply an adhesive stencil to the glass and use painter's tape to secure it. Remove all air bubbles.

Apply the etching cream with a paintbrush and let it sit 5-10 minutes. Make sure you use safety gloves to protect yourself from the etching cream, which is an acid.

Rinse the etching cream off with running water in a sink, and remove the stencil. Clean the glass with glass cleaner.

Fill your glassware with treats to make unique DIY gifts for friends, family, or teachers. Clean the glass in the dishwasher or by hand.
