I have fond memories of my childhood Halloween costumes. Beyond the classic witch, ballerina, and Little Orphan Annie costumes, I sported a crayon outfit and an old lady ensemble back in the day.

The arrival of Pinterest and sites devoted to Halloween has upped the costume game since I was a kid. Below are my favorite Halloween costumes for kids, including plenty of DIY ideas (if you’re creative) or store-bought options (if you’re short on time).
