Pumpkin place card holder with printable pumpkin name card on Thanksgiving table

This DIY pumpkin place card holder takes no time to make but adds loads of charm to any fall tablescape or Thanksgiving meal. I hesitate to call this a “tutorial” because I only used a few simple tools and some imagination to make these beauties. Super easy!

At the end of this post, I’m even throwing in a little VIP bonus for my subscribers…

Supplies

  • Pumpkin floral pick
  • Lineman pliers or other strong wire cutter
  • Hot glue gun
  • Paper (for place cards)

Directions for DIY Pumpkin Place Card Holders

I found myself looking for brown floral wire to create my pumpkin place card holder when I had an epiphany–the only wire I needed was already on the pumpkin pick!

Pumpkin pick used to make DIY pumpkin place card holder

Step 1: Remove pick with pliers

Before you begin, plug in your hot glue gun to start heating. Then, use lineman pliers to remove the pick from the bottom of the pumpkin.

Try to cut the pick as close to the base as possible so the pumpkin will lie flat on the table.

Step 2: Bend pick into shape

After removing the pick, gently curl the uncut end to form a shape that resembles the number “6.” As you bend the pick, be sure the wire cutters don’t tear the paper that covers the wire.

Step 3: Glue pick into place

To finish your DIY pumpkin place card holder, simply apply hot glue behind the stem of the pumpkin and insert your pick, holding it 1-2 minutes until the glue dries.

When using a grapevine pumpkin like the one I chose, the pick blends right in behind the pumpkin stem.
