Spring Table Decor: A Pinterest Challenge
If you’re a “regular” around here, you already know all about the monthly Pinterest Challenge hosted by Cindy at County Road 407!
If you’re new here, let me explain. Have you ever seen a gorgeous photo on Pinterest and dreamed about recreating the look at home? Now you’re all caught up!
Cindy hosts this fun decorating exercise each month to keep our styling skills sharp. It also gives you, the reader, a chance to see many different decorating styles and get inspired.
If you’ve hopped over from Amber at Follow the Yellow Brick Home, I’m sure your brain is already spilling over with lovely ideas to get your home decked out for spring. Amber is SO talented!
Now let’s begin with the inspiration…
Birdhouse Spring Table Decorations
This month’s photo challenge comes from Doreen at Hymns and Verses. Doreen’s birdhouse tablescape for spring is packed with charm and sweet bird-themed accents.
That adorable vintage wren print also comes as a free download on Doreen’s site. That alone is worth a visit, if you ask me!
Since the point of the challenge is to pay homage without mimicking too closely, I decided to focus on three common elements in my own tablescape.
- Birdhouse (of course!)
- Bird’s eggs
- Touch of pastel blue
Birdhouse Table Accent
The birdhouse in the Pinterest Challenge photo is definitely the star of the show. Luckily, I just completed a tutorial for DIY birdhouse plans!
(Perhaps I subconsciously knew this challenge was around the corner?)
Funny enough, I completed this birdhouse when we had a major freeze roll through the area. I’ve never felt so cold working in the garage!
Since most of our flowering plants suffered severe damage during “snowmageddon,” I opted for faux florals to complement my birdhouse.
These days, many stores sell faux flowers that make nice substitutes for the real deal. I won’t tell if you won’t!
Bird’s Eggs
Since the original photo had a bird’s nest, I decided to include my rustic set of eggs that look freshly plucked from the nest.
I bought this little “nest” at one of my favorite local home decor spots. I think I paid extra to get the real feather thrown in!
In another nod to Doreen’s bird’s nest, I found these woven placemats that added the perfect amount of contrast to my place setting.
We received the leaf napkin rings as part of our wedding registry. I think they add another springy touch to the table, don’t you?
Pastel Blues and Pinks
While the inspiration tablescape included mostly shades of blue, I decided to add some pastel pink to the mix given the dark blue shade of my dining room walls.
The touches of aqua in the small votive candles pair nicely with the accent bird on the birdhouse.
In my Easter table decor a few years ago, I included a variety of spring colors using bunnies and a long floral garland. I think this simplified look with a soft color palette really speaks to me this year, though.
What are your plans to decorate for spring this year? Do you have a Pinterest photo that inspires you too?

Crissy, your DIY birdhouse is precious. I’m so impressed. I can’t believe you built it on the garage during the freeze. I love the combination of blues – all shades – with pink. Your aqua votives add just the right amount of pretty pastel. The little nest with eggs is my favorite element for the natural look with the eggs. Happy Easter.
Thanks so much, Carol! I’m so glad my plants are finally growing back after our crazy winter weather. Spring is here at last! Thanks for the sweet comments! Happy Easter!

Really that just means next year when you pull it out again you’ll remember snowmageddon and appreciate it more. Right?! 😉 Your table with is so elegant. I’m sure your boys will love using that stemware and those pink napkins! If not, let me know and I’ll make the trip down because you know I love pink! I wish I could find a little egg crate nest like yours too. Now I’m on the hunt! So glad you joined us this month!
Aw, thanks, Cindy! It helps to have a handy husband to get the tools in order and make sure I walk away with all my digits. Oh, yes, it will be hard to forget snowmageddon! You should definitely plan a trip down to enjoy my pink napkins with me. Thanks for hosting!
What a beautiful tablescape and dining room Crissy! I saw your birdhouse video and wondered if you would use it for the challenge. You must be physic! Love the soft shades of the votives, napkins and flowers! Lovely!
Thanks, Michelle! Yeah, I wish I could say I had that all planned, but I was just super lucky. I’ll have to channel my inner psychic for the next challenge. Ha!
How pretty is your table! I’m so glad it all turned out despite the snow which hopefully we won’t see any more of until next year! The birdhouse is so cute and it all looks so beautiful! xo
Thanks, Stacy! Yes, I think spring is *finally* in full swing here in Houston. What a random weather event for us, but I’ll always remember making the birdhouse that week! Happy spring!
Your centerpiece is GORGEOUS, Crissy! You always create such loveliness in your home for spring! I can’t wait to see your spring tour later this week! Those photos are gorgeous, and the lighting is great, too! Pinned/shared!

I really like how you added the pink to the blue, Crissy; looks pretty in your home! And your freshly-made birdhouse is adorable!
Thanks so much, Lora! I’m debating whether to let the birds have the house or not. It might give it a fun, chippy look. We’ll see!
Crissy, I love how your table is set and your birdhouse turned out lovely (in spite of Snowmaggedon!!!)!!! I’ve been cutting back plants the past couple of weekends and am still on the fence about whether some lived or didn’t. Been a tough winter, for sure! But yes the beautiful blooms you have on your table look lovely and very realistic. <3
Enjoy your spring and replanting anew,
Hugs,
Barb 🙂
Hi Barb! Thanks so much. Yes, I know you lived through that crazy freeze, too! It’s hard to find flowers right now. I’m dying for my plants to all bloom again. I know you love gardening as much as I do, so I hope you enjoy your planting season as well. Can’t wait to see your garden this year! Hugs back, Crissy
You set such a beautiful table and just in time for Easter! I love the colors your chose Crissy and that birdhouse is just the cutest!
Thanks, Cindy! Yes, I feel like Easter will be upon us any moment now. We’re just racing through the year. Thanks for the kind words. It’s fun to be hopping with you again!
Your tablescape is beautiful, Crissy! The birdhouse makes a perfect centerpiece and I love how you added pink and aqua candle holders. I would never have known that your flowers are faux. They definitely are very realistic. Your leaf napkin rings are so pretty. I was admiring them and then was delighted to read that they were a part of your wedding registry. I hope you’ll enjoy a wonderful family dinner at your beautifully set table.
Thank you, Paula! Yes, I hope we can have a family dinner here. It’s been too long since we all could get together. Perhaps I love setting a table because it makes me think of many happy times. Happy spring, my friend!
Crissy, your entire table turned out so lovely! Beautiful colors for spring and Easter. I enjoyed the tour! I’ve pinned to my Easter Inspiration board and followed you on Instagram!

Thank you, Laura! The paint on our walls is Benjamin Moore Charcoal Slate. The prior owners used it, and I enjoyed it so much, I’ve never changed it. Hale Navy looks pretty too. Happy spring to you!

Thanks so much, Laura. I’m so happy to be celebrating spring again!
